St Albans International Café

Ridgeway Church in St Albans ran a pilot programme of conversational sessions for new Hong Kong immigrants to help develop English language skills, deepen understanding of British culture and build new friendships with others in the community.

These sessions were held in a relaxed, café-style setting and led by native English speaking volunteers. Topics of conversation were both cultural and practical, and included local history and workplace culture in the UK. 3 pilot sessions had been held in the first quarter of 2022 on:
Sunday 27th February - Daily Communication with Locals
Sunday 13th March - Healthcare and the NHS
Sunday 27th March - British Education
AHF sponsored the running costs of these sessions, including printed publicity material, refreshments and expenses for guest speakers.
